Hazardous Waste Compliance Calendar Software
Hazardous waste generators face some of the most complex and time-sensitive compliance deadlines in environmental regulation. From accumulation time limits that start the moment waste is generated to biennial reports that cover years of activity, the consequences of missing a deadline can include significant fines, cleanup liability, and enforcement actions.
Our Hazardous Waste Compliance Calendar Software and mobile app centralizes all RCRA and state hazardous waste obligations in one platform, with automated reminders and tracking to ensure every deadline is met.
Deadlines by Generator Category
RCRA requirements vary by generator status. Our software tracks the specific deadlines that apply to your facility:
Large Quantity Generator (LQG)
- Generates 1,000 kg or more per month
- 90-day accumulation time limit
- Biennial report required (March 1, even years)
- Annual employee training required
- Contingency plan and emergency procedures
- Weekly container inspections
- EPA ID number required
Small Quantity Generator (SQG)
- Generates 100 to 1,000 kg per month
- 180-day accumulation limit (270 if >200 miles)
- Biennial report may be required by state
- Basic employee training required
- Emergency coordinator designated
- 6,000 kg maximum on-site at any time
- EPA ID number required
Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG)
- Generates less than 100 kg per month
- No accumulation time limit
- 1,000 kg maximum on-site at any time
- Must identify hazardous waste
- Must use licensed transporter and facility
- State requirements may be more stringent
Key Hazardous Waste Deadlines
Biennial Report (March 1)
LQGs must submit the EPA Biennial Report by March 1 of even-numbered years covering the prior odd year's waste activities.
Accumulation Time Limits
Track the 90-day (LQG), 180-day (SQG), or 270-day (SQG >200 miles) clock from the date waste is first placed in a container.
Manifest Record Retention
Retain signed manifest copies for at least 3 years from the date the waste was accepted by the initial transporter.
Exception Reporting
LQGs must file an exception report if a signed manifest copy is not returned within 35 days. SQGs must contact the TSDF after 45 days.
Annual Training (LQG)
Provide initial training within 6 months of hire and annual refresher training for all personnel handling hazardous waste.
Container Inspections
Inspect hazardous waste storage areas weekly for leaks, deterioration, and proper labeling and dating.
Universal Waste (1-Year Limit)
Universal waste (batteries, lamps, mercury devices, pesticides) must be shipped to a destination facility within one year.
Land Disposal Restrictions
Track LDR notifications and certifications required when shipping hazardous waste for treatment or disposal.
Used Oil Management
Track used oil collection, testing, and shipment records per EPA used oil management standards.
Contingency Plan Updates
Update contingency plans when facility design changes, equipment lists change, or emergency coordinators change.
